What is a taproot?

A taproot is a root that dives deep into the ground, giving a tree or plant extra stability when buffeted by external forces, like vicious winds–or in our case, uncertain economic times. Taproots ‘Ground Funding’ provides a way for businesses, creators, inventors, and other innovators, to more firmly establish themselves with fans, supporters, and consumers. From these deeper roots, the project can flourish.

Why ‘Ground Funding’? In traditional ‘crowd-funding’ models, people support causes but don’t typically get anything in return. With Taproots, when someone donates to a project, they are given a certain amount of ‘seeds’ for the project.
Creators and Project Owners are encouraged to provide tangible benefits to ‘seed’ holders such as early access, special deals, free subscriptions to the service, and so on. The seeds may become more valuable over time depending on demand and the quality of the benefits provided by the Creators. The seeds may then be sold on the Taproots market, potentially for a profit.
Taproots facilitates introductions between companies/creators/producers and consumers and supporters by offering access to a platform which incentivizes consumer involvement in the creators’ projects. Creators are thus provided three things they almost always need:

- money to complete their project,
- a pool of customers to sell to,
- and another avenue for advertising their final work.
The primary ‘mode’ of this involvement is the ‘buying’ and ‘selling’ of ‘seeds’ issued by the creator, potentially providing the consumer-traders with free or discounted access to the final product, and, if the creator so chooses, a share in the proceeds.
